We all knew it was coming,
and now it’s finally here. Android “L” was officially unveiled earlier
today during the first half of the Google I/O 2014 opening keynote. As
expected, L packs quite a long list of both user-facing and
developer-centric features.
In a surprise turn of events, Google has decided to make the
developer preview images of Android “L” available for the Nexus 5 and 7
tomorrow morning. Join us as we take a closer look at what makes
L important.
Material Design
Perhaps the most immediately noticeable user-facing change in Android L comes courtesy of Material Design. Previously known as “Quantum Paper,” this new UI paradigm redefines how you will interact with your device.
As we mentioned earlier, Material Design brings a fresh, new look
that is inspired by paper and ink. This new UI also features a new
elevation value to give a unique perspective to an app’s different
components, and the overall look is able to reform dynamically with
surfaces that respond to motion and touch with splashes of animated
feedback.
Notifications
Notifications were also given a healthy boost . In Android L, lock
screen notifications can now be interactive. They are also now
ordered based on your usage habits and what matters most to you. And if
you happen to be in a full-screen app, heads-up notifications are also available.
Recents
Building on Material Design and Notifications, Android’s core UI has
also been upgraded through changes to the recent apps menu. Thanks to a
new API, applications are now able to populate multiple pages in your
recent apps menu.
With Recents, individual Chrome browser tabs to live alongside native
Android applications. So now, you can manage and switch between your
Chrome browser tabs just as you would manage and switch between
applications, seamlessly.
ART and Improved Performance
As we first noticed thanks to recent changes to the AOSP master branch a few weeks ago, Dalvik is out and ART is in.
This was officially confirmed during the keynote, and L will run
exclusively on ART compiler, which according to Google provides on
average a 2x performance improvement over Dalvik, fewer Garbage Collect
pauses, less RAM usage, and readiness for 64-bit computing.
In addition to CPU performance increases, GPU features have been
increased. With Android Extension Pack, game developers are able to make
use of features like tessellation, advanced lighting and more–bringing
Android’s graphics capabilities to near feature parity with DirectX 11.
Project Volta and Improved Battery Life
What good is an improved UI and speedier performance if your phone is
out of battery, right? Luckily Google is also approaching the battery
life issue with Project Volta.
While not much is known about Volta at this time, we do know
that Android will offer a very robust Battery Historian UI (seen in the
screenshot on your left), which will allow you to see what is
responsible for your battery woes in great detail. In addition, Volta
also offers a new Power Saving mode, which reduces device performance in
favor of better battery life. This mode can be automatically enabled
and disabled depending on battery level and charging status. Finally,
Volta also brings a new JobScheduler API that allows your app to be more
battery efficient for non-critical tasks.
Developer Preview
Last and certainly not least, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) users will
get to enjoy the Developer Preview version of Android L.The images will be posted for download on the:- Android Developer Site
Did L bring everything you were hoping for? What is your favorite
Android L feature? Is there anything they forgot to add in that you were
hoping for? Let us know in the comments below!
Are you tired of installing same apps again and again after installing new Rom or factory resetting current Rom?
Well, We have been experiencing the same since different Roms and
Nightlies are out. A tool which would
make it easier for you to try different Roms and install those apps in
just one shot.
What is this tool about?
Android Flashable Zip Creator is a tool for those who oftenly flash
new roms and want an easy way to install apps, change kernel or
bootanimation. This tool allows them to create a normal as well as
flashable zip with aroma installer that they can flash anytime in their
rooted android device. Not only this is helpful to end users but also
helpful for developers who release different version of their kernels.
Why is it required?
Imagine that you’re flashing the latest nightly of your favorite ROM.
If you are performing a fresh install by wiping all of your data, this
also means that you have to flash all of your modified system apps, user
apps, modules, and so on. And if you’re doing this on a regular basis,
all the wasted time really starts to add up. So what do you do? Do you
manually install these apps again, or do you add them to your favorite
ROM? That is where this tool is helpful.
How is it helpful?
This tool provides you two types of flashable zip as per your selection.
- You can create a normal zip file which you can directly flash into recovery.
- You can also create Flashable zip file with aroma installer which
will provide you customizations and lets you choose what to install and
what to skip.
This tool allows you to add as many as group that you want
- This is helpful to developers who release different version of their kernels.
- Also it is helpful for users who like to change bootanimations frequently.

"Half-Success :-/ ... system partition is read-only, use local.prop
trick. Reboot your device and use adb to see if it run as root", happen
when the filesystem in use on system partition is a read only filesystem
(ex: squashfs)

Is framaroot work on my device ?
If your device is in the compatibility list above, the short answer is :
yes but it depends of your firmware version, latest firmware have less
chance to be rooted.
If your device is not in the compatibility list and it embed one of the
processor mentionned above, the answer is : try it and see.
Why framaroot doesn't root anymore after I update my device ?
Because framaroot exploit security holes present in several devices
which has been patched with update you have done, so exploits can't root
your device anymore. Framaroot's exploits have a very short life to
keep your device "less exposed" to others malicious application. Keep in
mind that framaroot is not a permanent rooting application.
I loose root after update, what I can do to root my device now ?
An advice : if you want to have a chance to keep root after update,
don't update with Kies or ODIN for samsung devices or don't flash system
partition, prefer OTA update and use OTA survival feature in Superuser
or SuperSU.
And if you have no choice, you can use the traditional method : flash tools specific to your device
Will framaroot include more exploits ?
Yes, but don't ask when since I don't know myself, it depend of the vendors fix response.
Framaroot crash when I select Gandalf exploit ?
Often the first time you launch Framaroot by selecting Gandalf as
exploit, it crash Framaroot. Don't worry, in this case you have to
re-launch Framaroot and select Gandalf again, the second time it should
work.
What means error# on result ?
All errors less or equal to 9 mean your device is not vulnerable.
If you get error#10, give a try with Framaroot 1.5.3.
All other errors need some investigation about your kernel image.
Framaroot say Success but SuperSU is not installed after reboot ?
Maybe there is some additional protection on your device or something goes wrong with SuperSU version embedded in Framaroot.
In this case, I recommend to use "Execute script" action and put your
own shell script commands in /sdcard/custom (use at your own risk, all
commands are executed with root privileges). Look at this post to know how to use custom script.
What can I do when the result is Half-success ?
You see this message when the /system partition on your device is a
read-only filesystem (eg: SquashFS). To handle this case Framaroot try
to use a trick by adding "ro.kernel.qemu=1" in file /data/local.prop. To
test if this trick work you have to reboot your device and connect to
it with adb shell. Once connected type the "id" command to see if you
are root.
If you are not root, your last chance is to select "Execute script"
action and put your own shell script commands in /sdcard/custom (use at
your own risk, all commands are executed with root privileges). Look at
this post to know how to use custom script.
SP Flash Tool ( Latest version MTK Flash Tool v. 5.1343.01 (18.10.2013))
First of all, make sure that you have MediaTek DA USB VCOM drivers installed.
Flashing the whole ROM
First of all open SP Flash Tool, then click Scatter-loading button to load the correct scatter file
(MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt or MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt, depending on which phone you have) for your device and ignore any message that may appear.
Turn off your phone, remove the battery and replace it after some seconds (and don't turn on the phone).
Press F9 (or hit Download button) and connect your phone into the computer via USB data cable.
The process will start and a red progress bar will appear.
After the red progress bar is complete, there will appear a purple progress bar.
Right after the purple progress bar is complete, a message will appear underneath it:
“Please insert USB cable in x seconds” and then the download will start right away (you will see the yellow progress bar filling up).
When the yellow bar is complete, you'll get a popup with a green circle and Download OK message,
which means that the process has been successfully terminated.
You can now safely disconnect your phone and turn it on. The process ends here.
Flashing only part of the ROM
In case you want to flash just one part of the ROM, that is also possible. In the shown example, only recovery image will be flashed.
Deselect all parts except the one(s) you want to flash and then press F9 (or hit Download button).
The tool will immediately show a warning because not all parts are selected, but you should continue anyway. Safely press Yes to continue.
The download of the chosen partition image will start and
after the yellow bar is complete, the popup with the green circle
should appear.
Please note that, even though it isn't mandatory to select it on the list of images to flash, preloader file must be present in the same folder as the other
partition(s) that you want to flash, or else phone will not be able to
enter into download mode.
Attention: Please follow the instructions carefully. I will not take any responsibility on whatever may happen with your phone.
Very important warning:Always make sure that you trust the sources of the ROM you download and know that it is meant for your phone.
After flashing a wrong preloader, your phone will be completely
dead (can't be powered on, it will not charge and won't be detected
anymore by the computer) and there is no way to recover it.

MTK Flash tool v. 5.x fix a critical bug about SP Flash Tool 3.x where
the SP Flashtool reads iincorrectly the scatter file of some new mobile
based on MTK6582 (error: recovery partition is not flashable).
This is a utility to extract the new format KDZ files that LG distributes, specifically the 'compressed' ones.
LG frequently distributes firmware for phones as KDZ files, which are
essentially a firmware image of the eMMC and a DLL file that is used by
the downloader utility to communicate with the phone.
In the past, there were utilities to extract KDZ files to a DLL file and a DZ file, but no further (at least to my knowledge).
This utility lets you break the KDZ file into it's respective partitions (aboot, rpm, tz, and so on)
What good does this do me?
If you're an phone modder, haxxor, or just an enthusiast that has access
to their phone's KDZ file and would like to have a copy of the actual
partitions stored within, this will let you.
As an example, firmware for the new LG G2 on many device models is distributed as a KDZ file only.
Other phones use a TOT file, which is essentially a disk image of the eMMC with no compression.
If someone with a KDZ firmware-only phone wiped a partition (for
example, modem) and wanted to get it back without flashing the whole
phone all over again, they would be stuck.
TOT files are easily extractable, as there is software available
currently for that but until today there was none (to my knowledge) for
these new KDZ files.
How do I use this?
Inside the ZIP file you'll see two Python scripts, KDZFileTools.py and DZFileTools.py.
There's also a README.txt file for more in-depth information if you're curious.
Both scripts respond to --help or -h, so if you're even more curious, try that too!
KDZ files contain DZ files and DLL files, so the first step will be to split those into their respective parts:
LAS_V08d_pre3_00.kdz is the name of the KDZ file that I've copied to the working directory for this example.
Excellent! All the files are there!
Large images are split up by LG, and can be combined with "cat" or something like that.
The filename actually is in the form "partname_offset.bin" where
"offset" is the actual location that the file should be written to on
the phone's eMMC (handy!)
You can substitute -l in the options for -x again to extract all the partitions to the folder "dzextracted" in the current working directory as well.
The option --out or -o will change the output directory, so it doesn't have to output to {kdz|dz}extracted

APK Studio is the first IDE (don't know If I should call
it like that :P) that allows out of the box decompiling, editing &
then recompiling of android binaries easily (editing of .smali files
with Syntax Highlighting). No need to configure Notepad++ for bit of changes.
You can use it for editing ,decompiling, recompiling, rebuilding APKs
or just have a look at How Did They Do It? . I tried to make it as
promising as it could be in 4 days of design & development.
So
that every piece of code is visible and a well developed editor which
allows editing of codes. It comes with more than bunch of features in
it.
If you are tired of using command line tools, this is the tool for you.
