MX Player Custom Codec with DTS Support

DTS is a type of audio codec (normally has 5.1 - 7.1 channels) which is owned and copy righted by DTS Inc. You can use dts pass through without any copy right issue. But, in mobile it needs to be down sampled to 2 channels which is a conversion process and it needs to the permission from DTS Inc.They are not ready to have a deal with the software players. So, dts playback support is dropped from the official MX-Player.

Simply if your video has dts audio it wont play any audio. Only video will be played.

Instructions:

1. Download one of the following codec according to your platform as mentioned in the player
   (Go to Settings 》 Decoder 》 Download Custom Codec. Here the you can find the codec type)

   7. Arm v6 [MD5:b44a690d375bb94c80f7f89cb7a08c85]
   8. Arm v5TE [MD5:dbe62bc0affbd415d961145d42122a7c]
2. Check the hash values to ensure the file integrity.
3. Extract files
4. Ensure the file name is libffmpeg.mx.so (It's mandatory to work properly)
5. Open MX Player on your device.
6. Go to Settings 》 Decoder 》 Custom Codec
7. Navigate into the folder you put on your device. It will show the file libffmpeg.mx.so. Press OK
8. MX Player will Automatically restarts
9. Check whether the codec is in use or not in Settings 》Decoder 》Custom Codec. (If the path of libffmpeg.mx.so is shown here, then you have successfully loaded the codec.)
10. If you want to play DTS while using HW decoder,
    1. Then go to Settings 》Decoder
    2. Enable software audio. By this the Video will be rendered by HW and audio will be rendered by SW+

Note:

Many users complaining that the custom codec is not working with latest version. The codec pack is updated whenever the developer updates the ffmpeg source. If you update the player, Then you should update the Custom codec too. The Old codecs may or may not work properly with the latest version. Before reporting any bugs make sure that you have the latest version of custom codec.

Note:

• Till the MX Player v1.7.15a the custom ffmpeg was used as a shared library. That's why we had 5 *.mx.so files. But, from v1.7.16 the developer moved to a static library. So that from now onwards we will have only one library file (i.e, libffmpeg.mx.so)]

• Some users have reported that they are getting *.bin file instead of *.zip file. It seems that Chrome browser (Android) has some issues in downloading from ubuntu one...!. If you are getting *.bin file just rename to *.zip. Alternatively you can use different browser for downloading.
